Socialize collects information you provide directly to us, including:
- Name — provided during account creation or when RSVPing to a hangout
- Phone number — used for account authentication, SMS verification, and to receive hangout invitations and reminders
- Contact information — names, phone numbers, and email addresses of friends you add to your personal friend CRM
- Hangout details — event titles, descriptions, locations, dates, and times you create
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Authenticate your account via SMS verification
- Send hangout invitations and reminders to your friends via SMS and email
- Display your hangout details and guest lists to invited guests
- Provide your friends with a calendar subscription feed of events they are invited to
- Operate, maintain, and improve the Socialize service
3. Mobile Phone Numbers
We do not share, sell, or rent mobile phone numbers to any third parties. Phone numbers are used exclusively for:
- Account authentication via one-time verification codes
- Delivering hangout invitations and event reminders via SMS
- Verifying guest identity when RSVPing to a hangout
Phone numbers are stored securely and are never disclosed to other users except as part of the guest list display for a hangout (which the host may choose to make visible or hidden).
4. SMS Messaging
By opting in to receive SMS messages from Socialize, you agree to the following:
- Message frequency: Variable. Messages are sent only when a host creates a hangout or sends a reminder, typically 1–5 messages per month.
- Message and data rates may apply. Check with your mobile carrier for details on your plan.
- Opt-out: You may opt out of SMS messages at any time by replying STOP to any message. After opting out, you will no longer receive SMS messages from Socialize.
- Help: Reply HELP to any message for assistance, or contact us through the app.
5. Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your personal information to outside parties. Your friend CRM data (contacts, tags, tiers) is private to your account and is not visible to other users. Socialize accounts are siloed — no data is shared between different host accounts.
6. Data Security
We implement reasonable security measures to protect your personal information. Phone verification uses one-time codes. Sessions are encrypted and stored securely. However, no method of electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
