Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 13, 2026

1. Information We Collect

Socialize collects information you provide directly to us, including:

  • Name — provided during account creation or when RSVPing to a hangout
  • Email address — used for account authentication via magic code, and to receive hangout invitations
  • Phone number — optionally provided for contacts in your friend CRM and for guest identification on hangout RSVPs. Phone numbers are not used for SMS messaging.
  • Contact information — names, phone numbers, and email addresses of friends you add to your personal friend CRM
  • Hangout details — event titles, descriptions, locations, dates, times, notes, and poll options you create

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Authenticate your account via email-based magic codes
  • Send hangout invitations and reminders to your friends via email
  • Display your hangout details and guest lists to invited guests
  • Provide your friends with a calendar subscription feed of events they are invited to
  • Generate connection reminders based on your interaction history
  • Operate, maintain, and improve the Socialize service

3. Mobile Phone Numbers

We do not share, sell, or rent mobile phone numbers to any third parties. Phone numbers are stored in your friend CRM for contact identification purposes and are optionally displayed on hangout guest lists. Phone numbers may be used by guests to identify themselves when RSVPing to a hangout. Phone numbers are not used for SMS messaging.

4. Notifications

Socialize uses three notification channels:

  • Email — hangout invitations with calendar attachments, RSVP digests summarizing guest activity, and reminders sent 24 hours before a hangout
  • Calendar subscription feeds — a live feed that syncs your hangouts to Google, Apple, or Outlook calendars
  • Web push — instant on-device alerts (planned)

Notification settings are user-controllable. Quiet hours, mute-per-hangout, and mute-per-host controls are available (arriving with web push where applicable).

Socialize does not send SMS text messages. Phone numbers are never used for text messaging.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell or share your personal data with anyone, for any purpose.

We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your personal information to outside parties. Your friend CRM data (contacts, tags, tiers) is private to your account and is not visible to other users. Socialize accounts are siloed — no data is shared between different host accounts.

6. Data Security

We implement security measures to protect your personal information, including:

  • Rate limiting — login attempts, code requests, and invitation sending are rate-limited to prevent abuse
  • Content sanitization — all user-generated content (hangout descriptions, comments, notes) is sanitized to remove malicious code, scripts, and unsafe links
  • Secure sessions — authentication sessions are encrypted and stored in HttpOnly cookies
  • Transport security — all communication with the Service is encrypted via HTTPS

However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Data Deletion

You can delete your account and all associated data at any time. Deletion is permanent and cascades: contacts, hangouts, RSVPs, comments, calendar subscriptions, notification preferences — everything is removed.

8. Cookies

Socialize uses one cookie: a session cookie (HttpOnly) that keeps you signed in.

This cookie is strictly necessary for authentication, so no consent is required for necessary cookies. We do not use analytics, advertising, or tracking cookies.

9. Global Privacy Control

We honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal. When GPC is enabled in your browser, third-party integrations that would transmit your data (such as location autocomplete) are disabled automatically.

10. Contact

If you have questions about this Privacy Policy, please contact us through the Socialize app or via our contact form.
